Just so you all know - I changed the name of our blog just a little bit. I'm not sure if that affects if you can get to it from your page or not but I hope it didn't foil anyone's attempts to check up on us. Love you all!
On Thursday the weather was fabulous so we took Ayden to Barnes Park up here in Kaysville to have some fun time outdoors. Because it was spring break for Davis school district the place was crawling with little kids, but Ayden had fun watching them all and occasionally joining them on the playground. We got to feed some geese and ducks (and even had the pleasure of seeing a few of them doing the uh...dance of love...) but mostly Ayden just wanted to run all over the place. He had lots of fun but got pretty frustrated when we wouldn't let him climb on the taller parts of the playground like the other kids. In any case it was great to be out in the sun and have some fun outdoors as a whole little family.
Since this was the first Easter that Ayden was really old enough to do anything for we thought it would be fun to surprise him with a fun and simple little surprise Easter morning. We picked a wagon instead of a basket so it could double as a fun toy this summer.
In between conference sessions we took him down to the family room (since it was too cold outside) and laid his eggs around on the carpet for him to "find". We had them filled with fruit snacks so whenever he found one he would pick it up and shake it to make sure it had something inside, then hand it to us to open it. He lost interest after a little while and just started throwing them around and yelling "ball!" whenever he saw one....but either way it was still fun. So things have been pretty darn hectic in the Decker family as of late, and I've been terrible with keeping everyone updated on everything that's been going on with us. Sorry! I'm going to try and cram as much as I can into this little update :)
We recently moved back in with my parents in Kaysville after an attempt to get into our first home. After some serious consideration we realized that if we took some time to save we would be able to more easily afford something, or even hopefully be able to build a starter home. So the plan for now is to be here until the spring or summer and save as much as we can until then. We're praying the rates and house prices won't change too much or this will have all been for nothing anyway, so I guess this is the one place we're hoping the economy won't improve!
Jonathan has been working hard and has been on a pretty tight schedule between working full time and attending college. He's trying to get his associates wrapped up and also decide which graduate school he would like to attend to finish his bachelors in accounting. He manages to squeeze in an occasional day to go snow boarding or spend time with friends, but is the best husband and dad our little family could ever ask for. Other than that he enjoys spending as much time at home as he can, LOVES to play with his little boy, and is getting more and more anxious for the new one to arrive (tell me about it honey, you're not the one getting your ribs kicked apart!).
Ayden is growing like a little weed and I swear every time I turn around he's saying a new word, doing a new sign, or sprouting a new tooth. He absolutely loves his baby signing time dvd's and watches them daily, which we don't mind since he is learning signs as fast as we can get them down. A few of his most recent ones are hot, cold, grass, tree, potty, apple, pear, socks, star, car, and tons of others. He can say a few words like cracker, mom, dad, hot, cold, grass, dog, and go, and is working on being able to say a few peoples' names. We are hoping he doesn't get too jealous of his new baby brother since he seems to love little kids and is doing very well adjusting to nursery.
As for me, well I'm getting bigger and rounder by the day! I spend the majority of my time at home with my little boy who amazes me on a regular basis, I'm enjoying spending time with my family, and cherish what time I can get with Jonathan. I can't wait to meet this little guy growing in my belly and have him as an addition to our little group...not to mention that it would be nice to be able to do regular activities like put on my pants while standing, get in and out of the car easily, and sleep at night without having to take ten minutes to shift or get up to pee. I'm excited the spring is almost here and I love taking Ayden out whenever I can.
So there you have it - that's as much as I can get in without making it a novel! I hope you all are doing well and I swear I'm going to try harder to keep up with this...at least until the baby is here! :) Here are some random photos for you!
So we have sort of been telling people here and there...but we decided over the Thanksgiving weekend that it was time to officially announce that we are expecting our second baby! I am due the 4th of June and Jonathan and I couldn't be more excited! We don't really have a gender preference because we would love either...I would LOVE to have a girl because I am such a girly girl myself and would love getting her little dresses and just seeing the differences between her and Ayden...but we would have a TON of stuff to buy since everything we have is for a boy. A boy would be great because he would make a wonderful playmate for Ayden and hey, we already have all of the stuff we'd need!
The funniest part about the pregnancy is that the baby is due on my Dad's birthday. Ayden was originally due almost on Jonathan and my Mom's birthdays and ended up coming almost on Jonathan's Mom's birthday instead. Sheesh! Our wedding anniversary is two days before the baby's due date as well....but I'm keeping my hopes up that I'll have another early bird and we'll end up with a May baby. I guess only time will tell! We'll post more information once we get our ultrasound in January, so stay tuned!
So I know I haven't been the best at updating my blog this last three months...shame on me. We have had a lot of crap going on but I'm hoping to jump back on the bandwagon. In October we had the opportunity to go to Oregon for Jonathan's sister Heidi's wedding. Although it was hard being away from Ayden (we left him in the capable hands of his George Grandparents), the Portland Temple was breathtaking and we had a great time being up there with the Deckers. We definitely don't get to see them as often as we'd like to. I also had the chance to try out my photography wings again as they appointed me the wedding photographer. It was quite the awesome experience...but I was glad when it was over - I felt like the whole weekend I had to be a million places all at once! :) Anyway, here are some of the wedding pictures, let me know what you think - and hey, if anyone needs some pictures taken, let me know!
